The Terrace River Kings and Prince Rupert Rampage are undefeated and tied for first place, after weekend action in the Central Interior Hockey League.

On Friday, the River Kings edged the Williams Lake Stampeders 5-4 in overtime in their home opener at the Terrace Sportsplex, while the Rampage upended the Quesnel Kangaroos 4-1 at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre.

On Saturday, the Rampage outscored the Stampeders 5-1 in Prince Rupert -- but the River Kings kept pace by outlasting Quesnel 6-4 yesterday in Terrace.

The Rampage and River Kings are both 3-0 to start the season.

In other weekend action, the Smithers Steelheads chalked up their first win of the season, a 5-0 victory over the Wolverines in Hazelton on Saturday.

And the Kitimat Ice Demons lost a couple of close games.

On Saturday, they were edged 6-5 by the Kangaroos in their home-opener at Kitimat; and yesterday, they dropped a 7-5 decision to the Stampeders.
