Northwest Players Take CIHL Awards

Northwest players in the Central Interior Hockey League took home four out of five league awards.

Congratulations to Hunter Johnson from the Terrace River Kings for being awarded Top Forward.

From the Prince Rupert Rampage, Tyler Ostrom won Top Defence. And Judd Repole made an impact this season, awarded Top Scorer and MVP.

Head Coach for the Rampage, Roger Atchison, says his players earned those awards.

"Oh it's awesome, right. The two players, Judd and Tyler, they put in a lot of work and they're good players and it's well deserving. They deserved it."

CIHL awards are chosen by the general manager of each team, and cannot vote on their own players.

The Rampage are preparing to travel to Fort St John for the Coy Cup Provincial Senior Men's Hockey Championships next week.

They and the Williams Lake Stampeders will represent the CIHL at the tournament, with the defending Coy Cup Champion Dawson Creek Canucks and the host Fort St John Flyers also taking part.

The tournament begins next Tuesday.
