CIHL Update: Rampage Take the Lead

Brittany Webster

The Prince Rupert Rampage have taken over first place in the Central Interior Hockey League standings, following a pair of weekend victories in the Cariboo.

On Saturday, the Rampage scored the winning goal with two seconds left, to edge the Williams Lake Stampeders 2-1.

Then yesterday, the Rampage got by the Quesnel Kangaroos 4-3.

Meantime, the Terrace River Kings split their two games in the Cariboo, and now trail the Rampage by one point in the standings, but have a game in hand.

On Saturday, the River Kings lost in Quesnel 8-3, but rebounded yesterday for a 9-3 win over Williams Lake.

Elsewhere on the weekend, the Hazelton Wolverines moved into 4th place, one point ahead of Williams Lake, by beating the Smithers Steeheads 3-1 Friday night.

Hazelton's Saturday home game against the Kitimat Ice Demons was cancelled due to poor road conditions. No word yet on if the game will be rescheduled.
