Transportation Safety Board Investigates CN derailment near Kitwanga

The Transportation Safety Board is sending a team to Kitwanga, to investigate a CN freight train derailment east of the community Tuesday.

CN Rail  says the train carrying wood pellets left the tracks shortly after 6am Tuesday morning.

Company spokesman Jonathan Abecassis says 34 rail cars were derailed.
He says no dangerous goods were involved in the derailment and there were no fires or injuries.
 Abecassis says none of the pellets went into the Skeena River, which runs close to the tracks.
