They didn't manage to beat out last year's total -- but local firefighters are still pleased with the outcome of this year's Canada Day Pancake Breakfast at the Terrace Fire Hall.

The Terrace Professional Firefighters Local 2685 staged the event Monday, with help from organizations such as the Terrace Volunteer Fire Fighters Association, the RCMP, Emergency Social Services, Terrace Search and Rescue and Terrace Youth Soccer.

And the Terrace Community Band, with Geoff Parr on the conductor's podium, once again provided the musical accompaniment for the morning.

Attendance was just over 800 people this year, which was down a bit from previous years -- organizers say the sunny weather likely meant that many people were camping over the long weekend.

But they still managed to raise $4649.86, with the proceeds once again going to the BC Professional Firefighters Burn Fund.
