Coast Mtns School Board holds more consultation meetings

John Crawford

The Coast Mountains School Board is about to begin another round of public consultations, regarding a consultant's report issued last fall.
The School District 82 board will meet tonight at the Northwest Trades and Employment Training Centre -- that's the former Thornhill Junior Secondary School -- tonight from 6 until 7:30 -- with further meetings in Kitimat's Mount Elizabeth School Library on Tuesday February 25th and in the Hazelton Secondary School Library on Thursday February 27th.
Last November, consultant Dianne Turner released a report with 12 recommendations, dealing with improving communications and the consultation process, among other things.
Her review was initiated after widespread public protests in Terrace over the reassignments of three school administrators last spring.
Acting Superintentent Janet Meyers made it clear at a public meeting last November that decisions regarding staff reassignments must be kept confidential.
