Fishermen Rescued West of Terrace

John Crawford

A couple of fishermen were rescued Tuesday, after a harrowing incident near China Bar, west of Terrace.

Terrace Search-and-Rescue volunteers were activated by the B.C. Ambulance Service shortly before 6 pm, and members of the rope rescue and fixed-line teams joined with Swiftwater Rescue Technicians and ambulance paramedics to rescue the two men.

The Terrace SAR team is also reminding everyone that, while Spring has arrived, water and air temperatures remain cold, and people can become hypothermic very quickly. They're warning people that the human body loses heat in water about 25 times faster than in air.

They're also reminding people to wear life jackets.
