A little piece of Terrace's history disappeared today.

A tree planted by the city's founder -- George Little -- over a century ago has been chopped down by city staff.

A post on the City of Terrace Facebook page says the tree, planted in 1915 in what is now the corner of Lakelse Avenue and Emerson Street, had to be removed due to safety concerns.

However, if you want to own a piece of the tree, the city is inviting you to contact the Sportsplex Administration (250-615-3000).
