Highway 16 through downtown Burns Lake will be repaved this year.

Transportation Minister Claire Trevena says in a news release that will significantly improve the 3-kilometre drive between Babine Road and Kerr Road.

Another 30 kilometres of Highway 16 from Endako to the Fort Fraser overhead bridge will also be repaved, making it safer according to Trevena.

A company out of Penticton -- Peter's Bros. Construction -- has been awarded the $7.4 million contract.

The work is scheduled to start this summer and be finished this fall.

The province is already reminding drivers to use caution in the construction zones and obey flaggers and signs.
