Premier Horgan tours LNG Canada site today

Premier John Horgan will get a first-hand look at the LNG Canada project site in Kitimat today, as he pays a quick visit to the northwest.

Horgan will travel to Kitimat this morning for a private tour of the project, then will be in Terrace this afternoon for a roundtable with business leaders.

The city of Terrace has been calling for more help to deal with the impacts of the LNG project, saying pressures from economic activity in the region are largely responsible for a 7.4% property tax increase being proposed.

However, it doesn't appear the premier plans to accept an invitation from Wet'suwet'en hereditary chiefs, who want a face-to-face meeting with Horgan to discuss their continued opposition to the Coastal GasLink pipeline, which would feed natural gas to the Kitimat plant.
