Cameron Kerr Remembered By Former Teammates

Members of the Home Hardware hockey team organized a tribute to former team member Cameron Kerr, prior to the start of last night's Terrace Rec Hockey League game against Sorochan Wood and Metal.

Teammate Dexter Hobson played bagpipes followed by a moment of silence observed by everyone in the arena.

A special ceremony is also planned for tomorrow night's Terrace River Kings game against the Kitimat Ice Demons, with members of the Terrace Pipes and Drums on hand.

The 30-year-old Kerr was struck and killed in what police say was a hit-and-run collision sometime between 3 and 7am Sunday morning while walking along Highway 16 from New Remo toward Terrace.

On Wednesday afternoon, the RCMP announced they had found the Ford F-350 pickup truck believed to have been involved in the collision, on Haida Gwaii -- and a suspect had been taken into custody, although the person's name hasn't yet been released, pending the laying of formal charges.

A Go-Fund-Me account has been established by 101 Industries, which has already exceeded its 20-thousand-dollar target to help the family with funeral costs and other expenses.

The family says the money is going to be donated to charitable causes that cameron would have supported.
