The B.C. Wildfire Service is letting people know it will be doing some deliberate burning near Kispiox starting as soon as Wednesday.

A news release says trained firefighters will be on-site as a prescribed burn is conducted in the Date Creek area, about 26 kilometres northwest of the Village of Kispiox.

The cutblock was logged over the last two years.

The burn will reduce fine and medium-sized debris on the site and help prepare the ground for replanting.

The service says it will be done when conditions are favourable and will be managed by a "burn boss".

A five-person fire suppression crew from the Gitxsan Nation will work alongside B.C. Wildfire Service and B.C. Timber Sales staff on the job.
