Kitimat Asks Residents to Restrict Water Use

Kathy Brookes

The District of Kitimat is asking residents to limit their water use.

A public notice sent to media by email Wednesday afternoon says there's been a temporary loss in the District's water pumping capacity due to dirty source water in the Kitimat River.

People in Kitimat are being asked to restrict watering of gardens and lawns and other excess water use until further notice.

Last summer, elevated turbidity in the Kitimat River led to a month-long Water Quality Advisory in Kitimat. While the supply has been affected this time, the District is not talking about water quality
