Lakes TSA AAC Consultation

Kathy Brookes

Potential changes to the annual allowable cut in the Lakes Tmber Supply Area will be the subject of public consultations on Wednesday evening in Burns Lake.

The province's chief forester has to determine the maximum amount of wood that can be harvested in each of  B.C.'s timber supply area every 10 years.

Along with the public feedback, a timber supply analysis, geography, natural resources and current forest management practices in the area will be considered.

The impact of the mountain pine beetle was a big factor in setting the last A.A.C. Wildfires will also be taken into account with this update, as well as changes to the land base such as community forests and First Nations woodlots.

Wednesday's consultation takes place from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. at the  Lakeside Multiplex.
