Evacuation Zones Grow in Lakes District

There have been further expansions of Evacuation Orders in the Lakes District, as wildfires continue to grow.

The Bulkley-Nechako Regional District has pushed the Evacuation Order boundary  for the Verdun Fire at the west end of Takysie Lake -- it includes an area from Tatalaska Forest Service Road down to Eakin Settlement Road -- and from Keefes Landing Road to the eastern boundary of Lot 897.

The Francois Lake Forester Ferry is operating extended hours as required to support the needs of the Evacuation Order

And the evacuation order for the Island Lake Fire now includes the two islands at the east end of Francois Lake.

You can view maps of the affected areas -- and of all Evacuation Orders and Alerts -- on the RD website:  http://www.rdbn.bc.ca/

Regional District Board Chair Bill Miller says if you're evacuated, it's important to register at the Evacuation Centres in Burns Lake or Fraser Lake.
