Motorcyclist killed in crash near Prince Rupert

John Crawford

Prince Rupert RCMP are investigating a weekend  crash on Highway 16, which claimed the life of a motorcyclist.

Police say an off-duty officer came across the crash site near Kilometre 45 Saturday afternoon at around 5:15.

The rider and lone occupant of a Harley Davidson was found dead at the scene.

The RCMP say they spoke with people at the scene, but none of them had actually witnessed the crash.

Police believe speed played a role in the crash, saying it appears the motorcyclist failed to negotiate a curve on the highway.

Anyone with information should contact Prince Rupert RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
