Port Donates to Terrace Search and Rescue

Terrace Search and Rescue has received another big donation to help with construction of its new headquarters building.

The Prince Rupert Port Authority announced today that it's contributing $100,000.

Terrace Search and Rescue volunteers often assist with emergencies around the Northwest.

The port notes the new building -- now going up at the corner of Grieg Avenue and Clinton Street in Terrace -- will be used to store specialized equipment necessary to fulfill T-SAR's regional rescue role and to host more training courses.

The port authority notes it has also donated to ground and marine search and rescue groups in Prince Rupert, Lax Kw'alaams and on Haida Gwaii.
