Reported Ammonia Leak Temporarily Closes Prince Rupert Arena

The City of Prince Rupert says its municipal arena will be open as usual today, following a reported ammonia leak yesterday afternoon.
Jim-Ciccone-Civic-Centre-2.jpgThe Jim Ciccone Civic Centre was evacuated at about 4:30 yesterday after what Prince Rupert RCMP said was some sort of explosion involving a container of ammonia.
A post on the city's Facebook site says summer camps had ended for the day and the facility was mostly empty when the incident occurred.

Two people were taken to Prince Rupert Regional Hospital for treatment but the city says both were released last night.
The city says fire officials in Prince Rupert issued the "all clear" a few hours later and all programs at the arena resume today.
