Terrace RCMP hope shame will motivate a thief to return a box of sports equipment to a local school.

Police say the 2-metre-long metal box was secured to the ground under the covered area near the ball field at Thornhill Elementary School on Clark Street and was last seen there on Saturday afternoon.

Staff Sergeant Michael Robinson says the equipment it contained is vital to the children's physical fitness education.

The box has a Neid Enterprises sticker on it.
