Skeena Highways Maintenance Handed Over

Kathy Brookes

After 29 years of looking after highways in the Skeena region, Nechako Northcoast Construction is handing over its contract with the province to a new operator.

As of today, Chilliwack-based Emil Anderson Maintenance will be taking care of roads and bridges in the Terrace-Kitimat area, including stretches of Highway 16, Highway 37 South and the Nisga'a Highway.

Emil Anderson has been the maintenance contractor in the Fraser Valley since 1996.

A statement from Nechako Northcoast says it's transferring most of its assets and talent to Emil Anderson under their deal, ensuring continuity and the retention of local knowledge.

There are just under 9 years left in the current maintenance contract for the Skeena region.
