Police are looking for a suspect after someone apparently tried to set fire to the Queen Charlotte R-C-M-P detachment.
Corporal Dan Moskaluk says the cell guard on shift heard a noise at around 9:10 Friday night, and saw a man standing outside a smashed window.
The man fled, apparently leaving behind a four-litre jug of gasoline and a marine-type flare, which were found on the floor inside the detachment.
The suspect is described as about six feet tall, and was wearing a knit touque and matching sweater -- and may have had a gasoline smell coming from his clothes.
The Queen Charlotte detachment is also used by the B-C Ambulance Service, and Moskaluk says a fire could have caused major disruptions to emergency services in the area.
