Thornhill Firefighters Spread the Joy of Christmas

Annual Christmas Carol sing provides donations for Henny's Sharing Tree

12/22/2010

As they have since 1982, members of the Thornhill Fire Department once again brought the spirit of Christmas to the areas they serve -- and also made sure that spirit continues on throughout the season.

The volunteer fire fighters once again held their annual Carol-sing through Thornhill, Queensway, Gitaus, Jackpine Flats, Kleanza and other areas -- and also collected donations for the needy -- and yesterday Fire Chief Wes Patterson delivered those packages to Henny's Sharing Tree here at our studios... he said the campaign seemed to be a good fit.

"The last couple of years we've collected food for the food bank, knowing there's a need out there. It was an easy way for people to come out to the end of the driveway, we would deliver it... and we collected a good pickup full of food so estimations are 800 pounds of food"

Donations to Henny's Sharing Tree are distributed to needy families in the Terrace area by the Salvation Army.
