PRPA Holds Annual General Meeting

2011 Numbers and Operations Revealed

6/14/2012

Yesterday, the Prince Rupert Port Authority held their Annual General Meeting at The Crest Hotel.

The numbers in operations and finances were revealed from 2011 and compared to previous years.

“2011 was really quite a remarkable year for us. We had a number of great milestones, most significantly in how ports are measured around the world is in the volume that moves through ports and we exceeded 19 million tonnes,” said Don Krusel, President and CEO at the PRPA.

“The revenue for the year was just 26 million dollars and up 33 percent from the prior year. This shows a five year average over 2011 results versus the five year average up fairly significantly,” said Joe Rektor, VP of Finance at the PRPA.

An audience member asked about potentially changing the location of the proposed pellet facility and the port gave their response on the issue.

“The only location that would commercially make sense for the pellet facility is at Westview and if it can’t be done, if they can’t mitigate their issues, it can’t be done anywhere else in the port,” said Krusel.
