Municipal representatives were going door to door this afternoon in Port Edward to warn residents about a boil water advisory.

The District of Port Edward issued the advisory, saying there has been a disruption in its water treatment system and the water coming out of people's taps is not safe to drink unless it is boiled.

The advisory is in effect until further notice.

The district is asking residents to boil water for at least five minutes before drinking it or cooking with it.

The district says it will advise residents on updates throughout the weekend.
