One Terrace man's experiment could benefit countless local organic producers.
Backyard beekeeper Rudi Peters has been experimenting with his bees.
He's been trying to create multiple queen bees.. in hopes that other bees will create entire hives for each queen bee.. enhancing the local bee population.
The idea isn't new, but doesn't always work.
Right now, according to Peters, Terrace's bee population has been declining.. just like throughout North America and Europe.
This means lots of local orchards aren't being polenated and producing up to their potential.
He's confident that will change if his experiment works.
Terrace council approved new rules and regulations as part of legalizing backyard beekeeping in February.
