A Smithers man is facing charges, after an alleged armed robbery in Prince George on Monday night.

RCMP say 25-year-old Eric John Barnes has been charged with robbery, resisting a peace officer and breach of probation in connection with the incident at a convenience store on 15th Avenue in Prince George.

Police say a man showed a knife and stole the cash register from the store, then ran to a vehicle waiting nearby and fled with another person.

Barnes was arrested on Wednesday and has been remanded in custody awaiting his next court appearance, and RCMP are continuing their investigation.
