Terrace Train Noises Concern Council

7/24/2012

The City of Terrace may be blowing the whistle.. on train whistles.

Terrace City Council has decided to have city officials look into C-N train regulations regarding blowing whistles.. as well as, the speed trains travel while chugging through the city.

This comes after a local bed-and-breakfast owner, Randy Dozzi approached council last night on the matter.

He says it's become a health concern for him and his customers.. citing they never know when they're going to be woken up in the middle of the night because of the high-pitched noise.

Chief Adminstrative Officer Heather Avison said the issue is primarily at the Frank street and Queensway drive crossings.

She says she spoke with C-N Rail.. who said blowing the whistle is a safety precaution.. and making the Frank street crossing safe.. so trains won't have to blow their whistles.. would cost too much.

The Kenney Street crossing already has a "no-whistle" policy in place.
