Plans for Replacement of Marine Highway Docks

8/7/2012

The Marine Highway docks at Prince Rupert's Fairview are due for replacement---and the State of Alaska is planning on doing just that.

A 50 year lease on the property is almost up and Alaska is currently negotiating for a new one.

The Marine Highway dock was originally built in the early sixties, as the only Canadian stop on the Alaskan ferry route.

The Prince Rupert Port Authority says their involvement with the project is minimal, but they do act as a landlord to this property.

If any physical changes are made to this land, they must be approved by the port first.

We will provide more information on this as soon as it becomes available.
