The Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine could be on the verge of officially opposing the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline Project.

R-D-K-S Board of Directors put forward a motion at the District's board meeting Friday night.. to take a stance against the pipeline.

But the motion got tabled because elected officials said it needed more fine-tuning.

Terrace City Councillor Bruce Bidgood says the motion, which was filed under new business, also caught the majority of the board off guard.

"There was a little bit of confusion regarding that particular motion. It came up a little unanticipated. I think that some people weren't really prepared to deal with it at that particular time. And the nature of the motion was a little bit ambigious at the time as well, so that was tabled."

The motion will be re-evaluated and brought forward again at the next R-D-K-S Board Meeting in September.
