A woman running the legnth of Enbridge's proposed Northern Gateway Pipeline in opposition of it.. stopped at Terrace council last night.. to gain the support of the city's mayor and councillors.
32-year-old Whistler native, Kim Slater told council she's trying to create awareness of the dangers of the proposed pipeline, as well as, promoting cleaner energy options.
"So along the way, I've been speaking with individuals in communities around the issue of fossil fuels and shifting that paradigm to one that considers renewable energy options."
Slater says.. throughout her journey, she's been accompanied by a van running purely off of vegetable oil and solar power.. as an example of what clean-energy can do.
She started her journey at the B-C / Alberta border on July 8th, as part of a campaign called Band Together B-C, and will travel to Kitimat and back, before heading to the finish line in Prince Rupert.
Terrace Council passed a motion last night endorsing a Statement of Support for a National Energy Strategy as part of Slater's cause.
