Another Northwest mayor has been recognized with a Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal.

Long-time Hazelton mayor Alice Maitland was honoured.. at the beginning of Friday's Kitimat-Stikine Regional District meeting.

She was all smiles.. as she received a standing ovation from the board.. and members of the public on hand.

Canadians who have contributed their life to the service of others.. are being awarded with the medal this year.

It marks the celebrations of Queen Elizabeth's 60th year on the throne.

Last week.. Kitimat Mayor Joanne Monaghan was awarded the Diamond Jubilee Medal.. for her service to her community and province.
