Terrace Tourist-Greeting Program Needs Volunteers

8/16/2012

Terrace's tourism society has started a new tourist-greeting campaign this summer.. by having the city's residents welcome new arrivals at the airport.

Kermodei Tourism's program has residents providing brochures to tourists and answering questions about the area.

Kermodei Tourism's council liason, Marilyn Davies says the program is having trouble finding volunteers.

"Well from my take, the goal would be that we would have someone meet most of the afternoon and evening flights. And it's the afternoon people and the evening people that are more interested in the tourism brochures."

Davies says right now they only have volunteers greeting arrivals on the Wednesday evening and Friday morning flights.

Kitimat also provides local event guides for the volunteers to hand out.
