The Kitimat-Stikine Regional District has kicked off a new recycling program this summer..  aimed at teaching tourists about the importance of waste management.

The Terrace Visitors Centre's Zero Waste Program already has a recycling centre specifically for tourists.. and it's now setting up education workshops for out-of-towners as well.

The centre's manager, Erin Dunbar says the regional district contributed 25-hundred dollars to the program.

"Because it's an education grant, what we're using it for is specifically to come up with a full schedule cirriculum'

Dunbar says she hopes tourists visiting the area take some recycling ideas back to their homes.
