The B-C Government has appointed former Attorney General Geoff Plant to serve as its chief legal strategist at the federal hearings into the Northern Gateway Project.
Environment Minister Terry Lake made the announcement this morning, saying Plant's experience will be invaluable during the cross-examination process into the controversial Enbridge pipeline proposal.
Lake says the B-C Government is demanding world-leading polices and processes governing spill prevention, spill response and liability insurance that reduces government and public exposure to risk.
Plant was Attorney General for B-C and also the Minister Responsible for Treaty Negotiations from2001 to 2005.
The Joint Review Panel hearings are taking place this month in Edmonton -- then move to Prince George in October and to Prince Rupert in November and December.
