Conservation officers are warning Kitimat residents to keep their eyes open for potentially wounded bear.
Officer Dale Kluivers says a local resident shot at the black bear around 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon near Kuldo Boulevard and Dyke Road.
He says the bear could be wounded, dying or dead, and they haven't been able to locate it.
They're asking anyone who might see the bear to call the R-C-M-P or Conservation Officer Service.
Kluivers says the person who allegedly shot at the bear is also under investigation, because discharging a firearm within municipal boundaries is illegal.
Kluivers says the bear had apparently been hanging around for a while and had reportedly killed several geese.
