A Northwest Community College representative is speaking out after a hoax bomb threat caused a full-scale evacuation of the campus in Terrace on Tuesday.
The college's Director of Communications Phil Saunders wouldn't delve into the details of how much the hoax cost the school financially, but says the impact is there.
He is also making a plea on behalf of the school for the person or persons responsible or anyone who knows any information about the hoax to come forward.
"As I've spoken to the RCMP, they're very understanding that you know, these things happen. And that's not to say there won't be charges. Let's just say that a certain amount of leniency will be brought into play if that person comes forward. "
Saunders says the hoax has already cost the city and tied up the RCMP, the firefighters, and the paramedics for almost an entire day.
He notes that if the person(s) responsible comes forward, they can save the police from using more resources on the investigation.
