A coroner from Terrace is investigating B-C's first avalanche death of the new snow season.
B-C Coroner's service spokesperson Barb McLintock says the slide swept down on two people from an industrial camp in a remote area north of Stewart.  One of the people managed to escape, but the other was killed.   Few other details are known.
McLintock says it's very early in the season for an avalanche to claim a life, noting last year's first fatality was in mid-November, when a snowmobiler was caught by a slide northeast of Prince George.
