Burns Lake To Serve As Hub for New BC Transit Bus Routes Linking Smithers With Prince George
The latest two segments of the new BC Transit bus service along the so-called Highway of Tears will begin operating next Monday.
A special ceremony was held in Burns Lake this afternoon, since the village will serve as the hub for the two routes.
The western service will link Burns Lake with Smithers, and will operate Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The eastern portion will operate between Burns Lake and Prince George, running every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The one-way fare will be five dollars per segment.
Bulkley Nechako Regional District Chair BIll Miller says the new service illustrates the dedication of the R-D's board and staff, the City of Prince George and First Nations partners to improving access to safe, affordable transportation for everyone.
The service is part of the BC Government's Highway 16 Transportation Action Plan.
The first route -- between Smithers and Moricetown -- began running in January.
