Terrace's Rebuilt Aquatic Centre To Open This Week

It's taken about half-a-year longer than expected, but the eight-million-dollar revitalization project at the Terrace and District Aquatic Centre is finally complete -- and the pool complex is scheduled reopen this week.

The City announced on Facebook over the weekend that it and the Kitimat-Stikine Regional District are preparing to open for business this Thursday.

Leisure Services Department staff will continue their training on several new systems in the building over the coming weeks -- so the interim operational hours for public swims and gym use will be 3pm to 8pm Monday to Friday -- and noon to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.

The city also says  all facility use will be FREE to patrons -- with admission on a first-come, first-serve basis -- until Sunday December 2nd.

The pool has been closed since March of last year -- and was originally expected to reopen in May of this year, but ran into several delays -- the most recent one in August when a deficiency in the tile works around the Main Pool was discovered.

The Terrace and District Aquatic Centre will be opening on November 22! As our staff are actively training on many new systems, the facility will operate with FREE admission as follows as we ramp up…

Saturday & Sunday

*Capacity is limited. Users will be welcome on a first-come, first-serve basis.
