2010 Northern BC Winter Games Torch Lighting Today in Prince Rupert

The official torchlighting ceremony for the 2010 Northern B-C Winter games takes place this afternoon in Prince Rupert.

An estimated 125 elementary and secondary school students will run torches from their respective schools to the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre, with each student carrying equipment representing one of the dozen sports that make up the games.

The ceremony begins at 4:30, with one student chosen to officially light the cauldron beside Hays Creek, next to the outdoor gym.

Members of the Prince Rupert Rampage hockey team will act as servers during a community party afterword in the Dick St Louis Auditorium.
