Enbridge Promises to Clean Up Michigan Oil Spill
Officials estimate it could take two months to clean up a massive oil spill from an Enbridge pipeline near Battle Creek, Michigan.
Enbridge says about 3.1 million litres leaked from its pipeline into the Kalamazoo River on Monday.
However, the U-S Environmental Protection Agency says the amount could be as high as 3.8 million litres.
Enbridge C-E-O Pat Daniel says the cleanup will continue until affected people in the area ``are happy.''
North Coast M-L-A Gary Coons says the Michigan oil spill is a graphic illustration of what could happen if Enbridge is allowed to construct the Northern Gateway pipelines between Alberta and Kitimat, and to build an oil tanker port on Douglas Channel.
Coons called on the B-C Liberals to shut the door on the project.
