Bicycle safety will be front-and-centre Friday afternoon, as the Terrace RCMP are organizing their annual community bike rodeo at the Skeena Mall.
Constable Crystal Evelyn says the bike rodeo is a favourite of kids and emergency service workers alike.
"The Bike Rodeo is going to run from 3:30 to 6pm; we've got lots of partners out there who are going to be helping us teach kids about the importance of proper bike skills, techniques, rules, the importance of helmets especially, we're going to have the Fire Department people, Rangers, Head Injury Association, Search and Rescue, Bylaw, Sheriffs, the Salvation Army -- there's just so many people who have come together and make this event really great," she said.

Get ready to shift into gear for the free annual Emergency Services Bike Rodeo.
The Terrace RCMP Detachment is organizing a community bike rodeo May 24, 2019 from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Skeena Mall parking lot.

The bike rodeo is an annual favourite for kids and emergency service workers alike,
said Cst Crystal Evelyn, Community Liaison Officer for Terrace RCMP. It’s a great event that teaches kids the importance of bike safety in a fun and interactive way, while also introducing them to emergency service workers who are there to support and help them.
The free event will take place at the northwest corner of the Skeena Mall Parking lot. On hand will be fire departments, Canadian Rangers, Sheriffs, Northern Brain Injury Association, Terrace Search and Rescue, Salvation Army, and Terrace RCMP to interact with youth and help teach them important bike safety information.
All youth participating will receive a hotdog supper sponsored by Save On Foods and Safeway, gift bags, and a chance to win prizes sponsored by ICBC, Sportchek, Canadian Tire, Western Financial Group, and many other local partners.
The bike rodeo is a hands-on, interactive day, designed to teach children fundamental biking skills, road safety, and rules of the road. Bike rodeos take place across the province of BC and are conducted in a safe and positive environment.
