R-C-M-P say a youth hit by a vehicle near a school in Terrace yesterday suffered no significant injuries.

The incident happened around 8 am as the youth was crossing the street at a crosswalk near Suwilaawks Community School.

Police say the vehicle struck them while it was turning left from Sparks Street onto Walsh Avenue.

R-C-M-P say the youth was taken to hospital to be checked over but was released with no significant injuries.

The driver was given a ticket for driving without due care, failing to yield to a pedestrian, and failing to produce a license.

Terrace R-C-M-P is using the incident to remind motorists and pedestrians to be careful, especially with longer hours of darkness into the winter.
