Dave Johnston To Run For Kitimat Council

Kitimat resident David Johnston has announced his intentions to run for one of six seats on council.

Johnston has made waves recently by organizing a variety of events like a proportional representation debate, and LNG information sessions, as part of his group "The North Matters".

He hopes he can carry his ideas on to council for the next four years.

"I seen and heard this from a number of people; decisions take way too long, and they aren't getting made quick enough. I think that is key to a community being able to move ahead and advance everything from roads and infrastructure, to social programs to jobs."

Johnston has been a very vocal supporter of LNG development and says one of his priorities will be retaining workers in the years to come.

He says retention ideas need to be in place for after LNG facilities get built to create and sustain a strong business community in Kitimat.

He says his group "The North Matters" will continue to host local interest events as they aim to create chapters of the group in Prince Rupert, Terrace, and Smithers.
