Eleven New COVID-19 Cases in North

B.C. recorded 549 more cases over a four-day period over the long weekend -- and five additional deaths.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says while the numbers are higher than they'd like to see, there was also a backlog of about six-thousand tests -- now completed  -- from last week that increased the count.

Eleven of the new cases reported since Thursday were in the Northern Health region.

Four more B.C. long-term care centres also have outbreaks, and Henry pointed out, as recreational sports like hockey and youth soccer return, we have seen an increase in COVID-19 exposures.

She says we have to remember that spending time socializing or cheering with other parents and fans before, during and after games increases the risk of transmission and exposure for you and your family.
