Fire Hazard High Again Across Northwest

The wildfire hazard continues to climb across the northwest, thanks to the pre-summer heatwave that has gripped the area this week.

The BC Wildfire Centre says the Fire Danger Rating is now "High" for nearly all of the region -- and is "Extreme" in the far northwest near the Yukon border.

Category two open fires are prohibeted across the entire Northwest Fire Centre coverage area -- with a campfire ban in effect for the Cassiar Fire Zone.
