Feds Announce Gender Equality Funding for Terrace

John Crawford

The federal government has announced funding for the Terrace Women's Resource Centre Society to help promote gender equality and improve economic security for women.

Federal minister Maryam Monsef announced the centre would receive over 273-thousand dollars for a program called "Strong Women Make Strong Communities".

The goal is to develop and implement a financial health and sustainability plan, and to increase collaboration, networking and partnership development within the Terrace area.

Society executive director Rosemary Craig says Canadian women continue to face inequities in both wages and leadership opportunities, particularly in rural and remote areas where there remain barriers to women's participation in the economy and civic life.
Gender equality programs in Prince George and Parksville are also receiving federal funding.
