BC's independent police watchdog is looking into an August incident in Burns Lake in which a man was seriously injured.

A release from the Independent Investigations Office says it was informed on August 27th that an altercation occurred that afternoon when RCMP officers stopped a vehicle on Highway 16 near Richmond Loop.

The man was arrested and taken to the Burns Lake RCMP detachment and an ambulance was called when he indicated he was injured.

He was then taken to hospital where his serious injuries were confirmed.

The I.I.O. is asking anyone who saw, heard or recorded the incident to contact its Witness Line.

The Independent Investigations Office investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
