Pfizer Vaccine Arrives in Northern B.C.

Kathy Brookes

Yesterday morning was a milestone in the COVID-19 pandemic for northern B.C.

Northern Health says the first delivery of the Pfizer vaccine has arrived at the University Hospital of Northern B.C. in Prince George.

In a news release, the health authority said the first vaccinations will be taking place early this week in Prince George in accordance with the priorities set out by the B.C. Health Ministry. High-risk health care workers and long-term care and assisted living residents will be the first to receive the shot.

It says more communities and groups will receive vaccinations as more vaccines are approved by Health Canada and shipment volumes ramp up.

It expects to be able to immunize all northern B-C residents who want a vaccine by the end of 2021.
