Northern Health has provided an update on the two COVID-19 outbreaks in Prince Rupert.

Three more residents have tested positive at the outbreak in the west pod of Acropolis Manor, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the outbreak to five.

This outbreak is second one to take place at the long term care home. From January to March, a previous outbreak resulted in 33 residents and 24 staff members testing positive. Sadly, 16 residents passed away.

Meanwhile, a staff member has tested positive in the outbreak at the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital's Patient Care Unit. No new patients have tested positive, bringing the total number of confirmed cases at the hospital's outbreak to four.

Monitoring, testing, and outbreak control measures are all continuing at both facilities.
